- Auto Installer updates
- NEW! Softaculous autoinstaller
- Windows 2008R2 Server and MSSQL Server 2008R2
We have released updates to our CMS and Blog auto installers containing the usual suspects. Joomla is up to version 1.6.4 and Wordpress to 3.1.4.
If you are using Wordpress I would suggest to simply upgrade from within Wordpress. For Joomla I suggest to use our automated update from your hosting control panel.
Some of you might have noticed a Softaculous Icon in they hosting account. We recently implemented the Softaculous Auto installer at no charge to all our customers.
However, a bug will prevent users that have a Capital letter in their Username to utilize Softaculous at this moment. We are working with the developer on a fix.
Once they have fixed the problem, we will make a public announcement and slowly phase out our old auto installer.
So, to sum it all up, if you Control panel username does not contain Capital letters go ahead and start using Softaculous TODAY!
Our next topic will be most interesting for those of you using our Windows Hosting plans.
We now have added Windows 2008R2 Servers to our Web hosting cluster. All new accounts will automatically be setup on Windows 2008R2.
The same is true for MSSQL 2008R2. All new MSSQL Databases will be created on MSSQL Server 2008R2.
We have one unresolved issue on Windows 2008R2 at this point and that is Microsoft FrontPage Extensions.
Microsoft discontinued support for FrontPage Extensions (FPSE) with Windows 2008 Server. However, a 3rd party is currently beta Microsoft FrontPage Server Extensions for Windows 2008R2.
As soon as this has been released, we will be adding this function to our new Windows 2008R2 Servers. New customers in immediate need of Microsoft FrontPage Server Extensions, please contact support so that we can move you to one of the older windows 2003 Servers for the time being.
